  even though this is a real police blotter report recently from our local news about a jw i just had to post it under " social/jokes & humor " as it is pretty hilarious !.

  here is the news clip : " 8:47 p.m. - a woman from the 200 block of -------- way reported she is a jehovah's witness and her parents started talking in tongues and chasing her.

  pretty weird, huh ?

  Wow, so their argument is that the flood is as real as Jesus? Then Jesus must be as unreal as the flood? Do they not realize how their "all or none" logic would destroy every word of the Bible?

  i haven't been to a meeting (other than some cousins' weddings) for well over twenty years.

  i've always wondered what the fds was going to do with the "generations" thing once pretty much everybody who had been alive in 1914 is gone.

  i get that they've come up with some "new light" about this topic, but when i ask my mom (who's still in) i only get "well, the new understanding is complicated...".

  Since they haven't bothered to update the Reasoning book, they clearly don't want this subject to come up in the ministry for discussion with the uninitiated. And since it gets no print space in WT articles, the GB doesn't want the sheeples to be discussing this subject with each other, so it seems. It's gotten swept under the rug, like "who is the King of the North", "the cry of peace and security", etc.

  Very well done, sincere, heartfelt video. I could certainly relate to his story. I knew some that sold businesses and houses, took their kids out of school, and went into debt, because they were so sure about 1975. My family wasn't convinced enough to do that to us. Unfortunately, I did leave college in the 80s because we were so convinced by WT that "the end was so close." And I didn't marry or have a family because I should wait to have a perfect marriage and family. Who would be so foolish as to bring children into a wicked world that was soon to end? And I've certainly known plenty of JWs that have killed themselves, like his sister.

  I remember when "this generation" changed in 1995. It really did shatter my world, yet I buried those doubts for nearly a decade until I could finally begin to deal with the fact that I'd been deceived by I publishing corporation.

  first off, i love frequenting this forum.

  it has given me the opportunity to truly put jw stuff to the test and i thank everyone for their helpful responses.. however, i have noticed a couple things.. 1) the use of the word "troll" is completely childish.

  this is no different than the name calling used by jws (e.g.
